We like to think that anyone can proceed successful if they work hard and believe that they beat successful. Glad sound goes against that scheme and shows the reader that there is more to becoming successful than determination. No one- not rock stars, not professional athletes, not parcel billionaires, not even geniuses-ever makes it alone (Gladwell, 2008). The book follows the stories of unusual individuals in hopes to change the way we view how one becomes successful. Gladwell believes that your future depends on your past. He uses examples of culture, birth date, opportunities provided by the environment, upbringing and parenting, and family history to lose his theory of how passel become successful. The chapters in Outliers support Gladwells position because they give examples of the opportunities or lack of opportunities as well as descriptions about culture that many successful people encountered during their life. The chapters do not analyze what kind of people become successful, instead they analyze where successful people are from.

In The Roseto Mystery the idea of an outlier is introduced.
