The course of lawful honey never did run smooth. Love is a very powerful sense that mess
strike at any time and can appear in any way, shape or form. In William Shakespeares
play A Midsummer Nights Dream know is the major(ip) theme that affects many characters
and causes many confrontations. In secern for true love to handle these ups and downs they
may need some wizardly help, stay true to the one they love, and be determined to let on it
through no matter what is thrown at them.
Shakespeare gives the lecturer a prime example of true love in A Midsummer
Nights Dream, Hermia and Lysander. They have a pure and simple love for one another.
Hermia is from a well known family and Lysander is more standardised a commoner and the two
seem like an comic couple, but the two have fallen head all over heels for one another. Hermias
father, Egeus, does not think that Hermia is capable of choosing her own married man and he
shows this when he is talking to Theseus.
And, my gracious duke, This man hath bewitchd the
doorknocker of my child.
Thou, thou, Lysander, thou hast given her rhymes,
And interchanged love-tokens with my child^ With cunning hast thou
filchd my daughters heart, Turnd her obedience, which is due to me,
To wayward harshness. (Act I, Scene I, line 27)
To show Egeus power over Hermia he tells her that if she does not marry his choice,
Demetrius, she will be put to death. Hermia is go about with a major problem, marry
someone she does not love or to be put to death. Hermia and Lysander run off into the
forest trying to escape Egeus. These two young lovers are free to do anything to be
together which shows that their love is true.
