The first time I was told that I was Dyslexic was not shocked nor upset. If anything I was relived and for the first time my English lessons seemed a little clearer.
My mum always though that I was Dyslexic. From a very young age I was showing the signs and traits of universe Dyslexic. When I was learning to crawl instead of going in the lead like well-nigh babies I could only crawl backwards. To most people this might not be the patent of signs for an English learning difficulty but for most Dyslexics this would not be unusual. When learning to speak I stammered and still to sidereal day in tense or anxious situations the odd stutter is not uncommon. Also, from the age of 6 my love for music and maths came unmixed which very often Dyslexics excel at. Another huge speck was that my father is extremely Dyslexic and Dyslexia has been known to be away down the family. There are also the more obvious ones, I struggled with reading, writing and most of all spelling. So still though there where all these clues finding someone in school who would be willing to strain me proved to be a huge challenge.
In my first school the teachers where dead certain that there was no problem.
In class I was always the one who put there hand up in class to answer the questions and when it came down to creating a point I often wrote the most imaginative. The only place where I seemed not to be above average but importantly under was in the workweekly spelling tests. every week I seemed to get the same comment at the get across of my book learn you spellings Jessica. Its not like I didnt try. Every morning before school my dad would make me respectable them out and them after school my mum would make me think them out loud. But, by the time it had come round to test day I simply couldnt remember them. I couldnt even spell the word spellings as when I got I new spellings book one time on the front of the book I wrote splings.
