Driving down I-95 to the Florida everglades, car packed to the gills with sleeping bags, pillows, duffle bags, tents, and of course a Heineken keg this was going to be the opera hat road trip of all time how can it non be. We were going down to Florida to face pack in the everglades for three nights and go through our favorite band Phish usher in the new millennium with 75,000 of our closest friends. The three of us could not of been more sick to get this show on the road little did we tell apart what a unique fun filled experience we were real in for.
The three of us Jimmy, a big about over weight balding twenty-four year ageing that would give you the shirt of his back the real life of the troupe type. Kenny, a skinny quite type who was into reading and melody and me somewhere in between both socially and physically. here we were high school buddies in our mid twenties gallery down to the everglades to camp out and listen to this band Phish. Phish was tapping a hardihood in America at the time. It was the same nerve the grateful dead found, but with a different generation.
It was the threaten that each Phish show promised that lead us and 75,000 others down to the everglades to camp out and enjoy a great party at the bands expense. Our expectations were high being that it was the new millennium and Phish never frustrated on new years but no whizz could imagine exactly what we were about to experience.
As we entered the state of Florida we began see signs as far north as Jacksonville for the concert precedent all drivers to expect delays on alligator alley due to a Phish Concert being held on Big cypress Seminole Reservation. We laughed thinking I guess the band finally do it. As we approached alligator alley our laughs turned to tears as we realized just what the warning signs had meant… we were not going anyplace for a while.
